what is the point
I don’t blog like I should.
I don’t mean that I should be blogging so that my readers
will continue to read. I don’t mean that I need to document my life for future
generations.
I don’t even mean that I should be doing this to improve my
writing.
I should blog more often because somewhere out there is
someone who needs to hear what I have to say.
I know, that’s kind of egotistical isn’t it. Who in the world would really put stock in
what I say. I have no credentials. I’m biased. I haven’t even finished college.
Yet I have the audacity to put what I think out here on the internet.
I guess I’m no different than every other person out there
who feels that they have the right to post a Facebook status, leave a YouTube comment,
or send someone a nasty gram of stupidity on twitter.
Someday what I have to say will make someone laugh. I mean really laugh.
But, here’s the real difference I plan to make. Someday what
I have to say will make someone laugh. I mean really laugh. I’ll make their day
better, not because I told a crude joke, but because I helped them to remember the
good in their life. They’ll smile and move on with their day because I said the
right thing. I told them the truth.
The truth about how they are a precious person. The truth
that everyone has days where things are hard and that’s ok because their feelings, hormonally invoked or
not, are valid.
People are important. Not perfect, and not always kind or
nice, but they are important. In fact those who aren't kind are probably the
ones who need this knowledge most. They need someone to tell them that they are
worthwhile and important.
I am by no means the know-all tell-all of the “be kind to
people” world.
I just hope that by putting down what I have come to know
and learn, and the truth I have found, that It will come to means something to
someone. Even if it’s only me.
