Do Not Mock the Writer
Why
do we read?
We read so that we don't have to make mistakes, so we can learn truth, so we better understand the human condition.
We write to learn to express ourselves clearly, to express truth, in hopes that we will make a difference in someone else's life regardless of if they gain the initial message we tried to send.
As writers and readers we sit together and share what we have gleaned as far as truth and beauty.
The writers try to understand how they too can write so it makes a change in others. The readers discuss the truth they discovered and help each other to come to other conclusions. No one is right or wrong. Everyone has gained some better understanding of others, life, emotion, or their self simply through reading and pondering.
You do not need to be a great writer or reader to gain truth through reading. The writer does not have to write truth for the reader to have come away with a better understanding of the truth. Even if the only thought they come away with is “that was not true"
Understanding what is true is just as important as understanding what is not.
I believe the spirit speaks to us of truth in everything. Whether we are reading, writing, building, singing, pondering, praying, baking, etc. the spirit brings revelation to our souls in all of these places as we seek the truth.
I, as a writer, try to capture the best way to express the truth I have discovered. I may not have the entire truth but that doesn't not stop me from sharing the conclusion I have come to. And that also does not stop the reader from coming to their own conclusions from what I have written. Some of those conclusions may result in bad choices or wrong ideas but that is not my fault. I have expressed in the best way I know how at the current moment, my small understanding of limited truth.
Writing is a way of better understanding your own testimony by way of expressing it. Just as we come to gain a stronger testimony as others share theirs.
Do NOT, mock the writer.
Better still, do not mock me.
As a writer I have to power to mold words into something powerful and moving. Something that brings understanding, truth, and will last much longer than the human memory.
Writing is not the only way in which to do this. But it is my way. The best way I know how. And it's worth it to know that even if no one else ever reads my words, I had the clarity of mind and power of spirit to put my words on paper and have them mean something to me.
To those who believe that seeking truth from writing that does not contain only truth is not worth it, I am sorry for you.
I may not have recognized some truths had they not been set in contrast with the confusion and heartache of things that are not true.
When I read something I am not called upon to take away everything that it offers, I have the choice to take away only the truth there in.
Therefore, Christianity within writing is possible. It may contain things which are not true, BUT, the theme of Christianity and of us a people trying to come to better understand our own purpose, Christian spirit, or how to praise our God, is powerful, meaningful and often true.
Truth is not limited to religious truth about God, salvation, and goodness.
It is true that we are not perfect.
We read so that we don't have to make mistakes, so we can learn truth, so we better understand the human condition.

Truth is not limited to religious truth about God, salvation, and goodness.
It is true that we are not perfect.
It is true that sometimes I harbor resentful feelings towards others.
It is true that we are flawed and often feel powerless against it.
It is true that we lie, we cheat, we hate, and we love.
This is all truth about humanity.
It is my interpretation of the truth of humanity.
But most people would hold these statements as truth and that they are self-evident.
These conditions may not be right, but that is the difference.
There is a difference between truth and right. And what is right is relative to what we believe as individuals. You may argue that there is only one right just as there is only one truth. This may be true. But that is what you believe to be true and right and you cannot force anyone else to believe the same.
Now,
You want to know the great thing about all these words I have put down on this raggedy piece of paper?
You, as the reader of these words, have a choice.
You can hate them, love them, believe them, burn them, or disregard them.
You can find truth here or decide that I don't know what I am talking about and choose not to believe me.
But, because you have read this, you have been changed, because you will make a choice about what you have just read and prove my point.
Even if you choose to be unaffected, that is still a choice.
Like it or not, I have touched your life.
Just as I intended to when I sat down to write this.
You will take something away from this just as all readers take something away from they read.
You don't have to accept it or believe it.
But it has happened all the same.
If you don't like it, say something, or do something about it. But just know that in this way you have become the "writer", trying to express the truth you hold within. Trying to say something to make a difference.
Welcome to the world of those who read,
and those who write.
