Crushing

Do you ever get the feeling that if you look up there will be a mob of responsibilities waiting to come crashing down on you the moment you look away?
You spend your whole day waiting and watching until you feel you'll go bonkers!

Every once in a while you'll take down one of the less threatening ones and finish it, while the other, bigger, meaner, problems get more impatient and unmanageable.

You keep making plans to get your list finished, as it steadily gets longer and longer, but seem to always find something else to take up that time.

You find yourself searching for other things to do to distract you from thinking about those looming responsibilities.

And as you avoid them, they get louder and begin shoving each other around in order to become first on your list of to-do's.

When you finally have to stop avoiding them and lay down to sleep at night, you can't, because as you lay there trying to sink into oblivion they begin to chase each other madly, around and around that tiny space above your head.

You want to cry, and scream, and run in a circle until you think you'll pass out.

why do we do this to ourselves? And how on earth do we fix it once it's got this bad?

As for why, I believe that, being human, we are lazy creatures and would like more to avoid the work and reap the short term enjoyment then to get the work done and avoid future heart ache.

everyone does it and everyone regrets it eventually.

How do we fix it?

Make a list

Write it down

and just plain get it done.

its easier said than done, but we all get it over with eventually, even if we do have to go a couple rounds with our problems before we get them set aside.

  1. Put the worst one at the top of the list. That way you'll get all the others done while procrastinating the big bad one.

  2. Sounds like life can be rough, be careful, don't over think things and face every problem with a smile and positive attitude and you'll find yourself enjoying your problems instead of hating them, lol :) Smile big...

  3. I completely understand. I love the picture though, what a great visual.
