A Bright Morning to a Bright Day

The sun.

How many beautiful things are only here on earth because of the sun?

It greets us at first light and shines all day, it warms our toes and breaths life into everything around us. The plants, the animals, even the people feel the difference when the sun is out.

I love to stand bare foot in the sun warmed earth and let it shine on my face. It wakes me up and makes me grateful for the beauty of the world I live in.

I belong here.

Here among the warm breeze and smell of pine. Here where the world can't touch me, where only the sun the earth and the trees exist and live together in perfect balance.

The world does it's best to control everything, the way we dress, the way we talk, what our job is, who we're supposed to be, the climate, what we read, what we watch, even how we think about things and other people.

Man is desperate to gain control of everything, even other men.

People complain about the weather, the weeds, the wild life. It's too uncivilized, too dirty, too much work, to live in a world that is absolutely natural and balanced and has been working just fine for longer than man has been on the face of this planet.

There are people in this world that have never seen the beauty of what is right out there window. They sit in their climate controlled houses, with their virtual world on their laptop, talking to virtual people, with the blinds drawn against any natural light. They complain of dust and the noisy birds.

I'd never be able to live in such a world. If the seasons never changed. If the only pet I ever had was virtual because real animals smell and shed and are just too much work. If I never looked natural or aged naturally because of plastic surgery, for fear that society would not think me beautiful otherwise.

I want to be that beautifully aged grandmother that lives in a simple home that has no air conditioning. With a beautiful garden that I have planted and grown with my love for all things green and growing and real, no matter how much work they are.

I'll sit on the porch with my still handsome husband and enjoy the evening with the sound of worldly media, fancy new cars, and modern controlled life drowned out by the wind in the pines and the rush of a river.

I refuse to conform to the motion of society. It's moving too far away from everything that I love for me to be comfortable with going along with it.

  1. Nice post. Well written. You have quite a knack for putting your thoughts down. I hope you continue. Yes, and I hope people never let things slide so far into technology that they loose the blessings of nature. (I DO love the a.c. on a hot day, though).
