Mr.Darcy, Gentleman
I recently read a new trilogy and I strongly recommend it to all those readers out there who enjoy Pride and Prejudice or any of Jane Austen's works.Everyone would love to know what the alleged Mr.Darcy is really thinking. Handsome, tall, proud, but quiet and cool enough to drive anyone nuts with the thought of what really is going on behind the well composed features of his solum face.
These amazingly well written books bring to light the thoughts and actions of the mysterious Lord of Pemberly and Darbeshire. What brings him to propose to a woman he's come in contact with only a few times and how does he handle her abrupt and chilly refusal.
Pamela Aidan has written incredibly well what few others have attempted. They are absolutely some of my most favorite books that I have read. An Assembly Such as This, Duty and Desire, and These Three Remain are captivating and will be as easy read for any romantic.
There have been several attempts to capture exactly who Mister Darcy is. whether it be to portray the more formal and civil Darcy. Gloves, tails, and all the trimmings, ridged with duty and the image of high class society.Only saying what is polite in society, if that.
Or to walk more on the wild side, capturing the more human moments of a rain drenched proposal, an affectionate welcome home from a sister, Unkept hair and clothes during a final desperate plea to know whether or not he can have her,and finally a tender kiss of a passionate couple.
In a way I prefer the more romantic approach. The portrayal of struggle and desperate love really shows exactly how much he had to truly love her. He turned his back on the duty to his name and station to marry someone that he purely loved. The humanity of the warring conflict between duty and desire makes him more than just the prince on a white horse.
This is absolutely the best love story for any romantic, and some of the best literature I have ever read.
Nobody did Mr. Darcy like Matthew McFadyen to Kiera Knightly's Elizabeth. Even though he had to propose to her twice to get it right.
