OH the Drama!

getting on stage is like being the center of the universe for a whole minute. you get the attention. everyone listens to what you say and you're basically on your own.now for some this is the scariest thing in the world. All eyes on you and your basically putting your self out there to be walked on. But there are those few of us who as soon as we step on that stage. we stop caring what every one else thinks and we step into that character and run with it. it's that way for me. I step into my character and just go. To have the opportunity to be some one else and manipulate the feeling and emotion of the room just by the words and actions I say and do is one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced. When you finish and the audience is so awed by your performance that it take them a minute to start clapping, that's when you know you've done really good. And then to turn around and take on the craziest or meanest of characters and just let your emotions fly in that direction gives you the chance to act in ways you only do when your ranting to your self, or late at night when your so tired you could careless how you act. I love that, to be able to through myself into it head first and just go! and have a purpose to it. and we haven't even gotten to the costumes and make up. What a blast! to look in the mirror and either say : "who is that?" or " Man I look good" is a one of a kind thing and getting dressed up in clothes you'd only ever be able to get away with on stage just makes the whole thing that much more fun. Performing is the epitome of the whole experience because it's do or die out there and sometimes find your self doing some kind of funny dance to try and get back on track. But it builds a bond between you and your fellow actors that is unique in of it's own. Because your counting on each other to have there act together and pull there weight and to bale you out if you need it. When you finish a scene and the audience applauds you have friends and comrades to laugh with and work with and it's the same no matter where you go all actors in theatre are a family because of the camaraderie that develops on that stage and behind those curtains. Theatre is magic and I love being a part of making that magic happen.
